Recurring invoices for retainer clients
A retainer is the best kind of client and the easiest bill to forget. Set the amount and the rhythm once, and Lumio sends the same invoice automatically every week, month or quarter.
How a recurring invoice works
- Pick a client and write the invoice as usual.
- Choose the rhythm: weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly, and a start date.
- Choose whether it is sent automatically or waits for your review first.
Bill the same amount every month, automatically
Each period, a new invoice is created with its own number and due date and e-mailed to the client with a Pay now button. You are told when it is sent and again when it is paid. Change the amount at any time; the change applies to the next one.
Retainers, subscriptions and instalments
Use it for a monthly retainer, a maintenance contract, rent of a desk, or a large project paid in instalments. Set an end date or a number of occurrences and the series stops by itself.
What if the client does not pay?
A recurring invoice is chased like any other: automatic payment reminders go out after the due date. The next one in the series is still sent on schedule unless you pause it.
Which plans have it
Recurring invoices are part of Lumio Pro and Lumio Team. With the time tracker add-on, a retainer invoice can also list the hours worked that month.
